Professor Annetta Alexandridis passed away on April 13, according to an announcement from the College of Arts and Sciences. She was a staple of the Cornell community, recognized for her unwavering dedication to her students as a mentor, advisor, and Director of Undergraduate Studies.
An associate professor of art history and archaeology, Alexandridis specialized in the ancient world. Her research investigated gender, animals, and the media of archaeology, including a recent major project on the history of plaster cast collections.
Beyond the classroom, she served as a curator for Cornell's coin and plaster cast collections and co-directed the Harvard-Cornell Exploration of Sardis. She was known for championing interdisciplinary work and team-teaching with her colleagues.
